A SOCIALITE BIRTHDAY

As Caroline's 20th Birthday draws near,
We decided to celebrate with friends and good cheer.
"Calling all Socialites" the invites did read,
For a fashionista who does good deeds.
Dressed as Bjork, C was a star
And had a blast celebrating with friends from near and far!

Sophie Madeleine

Chances are, you've never heard of her. But Sophie Madeleine is our
newest musical obsession here at THE BEARON.
Eduardo gets the credit for finding her on
(one of the coolest website ideas ever...)
but we're willing to share.
If you like Feist, or beards, or ukuleles, be warned-
you may become instantly obsessed.

HAPPY SPRING
&
HAPPY LISTENING!

A BEAR-Y SWEET 16

Anna and Caroline helped Charlotte, Anna's younger sister,
celebrate her SURPRISE Sweet 16 in style last weekend. Charlotte
and friends dined, danced, and laughed...
And some of THE BEARON team was able to score a picture
with our favorite animal along the way.

Lili O. on LookBook

I have always have a minor obsession with peacock feathers for their unique beauty.
The dress reminds me of the distinct look of these feathers...
While there is a lot of pattern going on, I think it works,
and would not overpower the confident wearer.
There is a chic, but bohemian feel to this dress-
and it makes me wish it wasn't snowing outside!

SHEI MAGAZINE SHOW

Last Friday, SHEI Magazine (an AWESOME fashion and culture magazine in Ann Arbor) hosted a fabulous runway show on the University of Michigan campus (clothes from ALLURE boutique in Ann Arbor), with proceeds benefitting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Getting ready for the show!

LookBook Ladies.

Kali- Represent from Michigan.

elle h. (this image is even better after her
profile told me "I wish I was a ballerina")

These wonderful images were posted on LookBook last week- two very similar images but with a completely different feel. The top post was from a girl in Michigan and I love the free loving, bohemian nature of the image. The second looks like an image of a beautiful dancer, young, chic, and free. To see the images, visit LOOKBOOK here.

Thomas' blog

The director of the University of Michigan Center for Entrepreneurship, Thomas Zurbuchen, posted the following on his blog (January 10th), answering the question, why do people continue to work at night?

3) … because they would rather work than sleep

This is what this post is really about. Work is so captivating that sleep just does not make sense.

I have experienced periods like that on a number of occasions. I would rather work than sleep because I doing something extremely important or so exciting to me that I just cannot think of stopping now. It’s the potential of success that motivates beyond boundries – time seems to become irrelevant. It’s like flying – some other force is taking over. You can feel how your entire mind is starting to work in an entirely new way and with tremendous efficiency.

In my opinion, this can only happen if three conditions are met: there is a tremendous sense of purpose; there is a sense of empowerment; and there is an environment of success. I would never put in a lot of time if I don’t understand why I am doing this. I need to know that success depends on me or my team. But, I think the last piece is perhaps the most important. Gratitude or acknowledgments are crucial.   Sometimes a simple “thanks” or pat on the back, a mention in a meeting, a cup of coffee – success wants to be acknowledged, or it dies!

So, can we in fact judge the status of an engineering project by observing the parking lots at night?

Absolutely - go look at their parking lot at night, and go visit them in the middle of the night. You will know immediately whether the place is going somewhere!

*

As motivated young people, I'm sure that many of you identity with Thomas' post. I especially like the last line- "You will know immediately whether the place is going somewhere". So stay motivated, and remember your passions. No one can take that drive away from you, so maximize your potential, get out there, and kick it.

Peace, Love, THE BEARON

UN Headquarters

Good morning everyone!
We always try to keep our posts positive, but I thought it was important to post this photo from today's New York Times. The United Nations inspired me to start THE BEARON, and is obviously very close to my heart. No matter what your position on the conflicts in the Middle East, seeing the UN Headquarters in Gaza burn is extremely upsetting.
